- Area Aragatsotn
- Type Religious site
- Time needed 30m

Talin Cathedral is a large 7th-century church, now roofless, standing in the town of Talin on the plain south of Mount Aragats. Its size and the quality of the surviving carving make it one of the more impressive ruins within easy reach of Yerevan.
Open in the planner →Getting there
About 83 km from Yerevan, roughly 1h 30m of driving, on the main road towards Gyumri with a short turn into Talin. Parking is beside the site.
What you see
The cathedral has lost its dome and roof but keeps much of its walls, with carved window surrounds and a deeply worked west doorway in reddish stone. A smaller and better-preserved church stands in the same enclosure, along with khachkars and grave markers. Aragats fills the skyline to the north on a clear day.
What to pair it with
It combines with Harichavank and Artik to the north, or Dashtadem fortress and Aruch on the same road.
When to go
Clear mornings give the best view of Aragats. The site is fully exposed, so it is cold and windy in winter and hot in midsummer.
What is hard about it
It is a ruin: no roof, no interior to speak of, and little interpretation. Thirty minutes is enough, and the town around it is plain.
Common questions
Why is it a ruin?
The building has suffered earthquake damage over the centuries and lost its dome. Consolidation work has been done at various times.
Is there an entry fee?
None has usually been charged at the site. [VERIFY — confirm current details]
Which church is which?
The large roofless building is the cathedral; the small intact church in the same enclosure is a separate and smaller foundation.
